Some people believe that they perform better under stress but that is not often the case. In fact, research has shown that stress makes a person more likely to make mistakes. Besides making you forget where you put your keys, stress can also have a dramatic impact on your health.

It is no secret that stressed people can fly off the handle. But a new research tells us that how little stress is actually required for you to lose your cool.

There is research to show that chronic stress can bring on illness and that it is important to expose children to a happy atmosphere at home to avoid their suffering from stress in the future.

Some people respond to stressful situations through body language including grinding their teeth. While often done unconsciously or during sleep, it can wear your teeth thin.

It has also been proven that stress can physically damage your heart muscle because stress hormones increase your heart rate and constrict your blood vessels. This forces your heart to work harder and increase your blood pressure.

The problem with stress is that the connection between mind and body are often underestimated, but everyone’s experienced a cold when they can least afford to. That is because stress is so demanding on the body that the immune system suffers, making you more vulnerable to colds and infection.

Although stress is the disease of the 21st century there are many strategies that can help you live a more stress-free life including deep breathing, daily exercise, good diet and plenty of water.
